This resource provides the steps and questions for teachers to encourage the use of science process skills in a learning journey to study animal natural history and zoo exhibit design. Use the Design Thinking approach to help your students design and build their own zoo exhibit that an animal would thrive in.
Sustainable Tourism – Mandai Wildlife Group Sustainability Journey
Mandai Wildlife Group (MWG) manages Singapore Zoo, Night Safari, River Wonders, Bird Paradise, Rainforest Wild ASIA and Mandai Rainforest Resort, as well as indoor attractions Curiosity Cove and Exploria, and the community space Mandai Boardwalk.
As a purpose-led organisation, MWG is committed to caring for the planet and protecting wildlife, while striving to connect people with wildlife and champion sustainable living.
Developed in collaboration with the Ministry of Education (MOE), this resource supports secondary school students studying Sustainable Tourism, and offers a case study on how MWG applies environmental, social and economic strategies to operate as a sustainable tourist destination in Singapore.
Animals We Love: Mousedeer
Singapore is home to two mousedeer species. Not so easy to spot in the wild, but you can’t miss the lesser mousedeer at the Zoo’s Fragile Forest. Watch them munch their greens and refer to the activity pack for mousedeer-related learning ideas.
Animals We Love: Komodo Dragons
The Komodo dragon is the world’s largest living lizard. Found only on five Indonesian islands, including Komodo Island, this threatened reptile is one of Indonesia’s national treasures. Currently, Singapore Zoo is home to three Komodo dragons – Bima and his two sons, Mario and Taro.
