Together for Wildlife at PAssionArts Pasir Ris Beach Arts Festival 2018
28 JUL 2018Singapore, 28 July 2018 – In an effort to inspire care for wildlife and raise more awareness about endangered species, Mandai Park Holdings recently worked with the community to co-create a rainforest art installation.
Together for Wildlife brought visitors into the Rainforest habitat, home to a wide variety of animal species, in art form. It turned the spotlight on five species namely the Sunda Pangolin, Singapore Freshwater Crab, Javan Green Magpie, Malayan Tiger, and Silvery Gibbon, which need our protection.
Showcased at the Pasir Ris Beach Arts Festival, which was part of the nationwide PAssionArts Festival organized by People’s Association, the art installation was co-created by residents, students from Meridian Secondary, Yishun Town Secondary and Dunman High, as well as beneficiaries of the Business Times Budding Artists Fund. Through art workshops held prior to the festival and at the festival itself, the entire rainforest art installation was created using recycled materials.
Some 8,000 residents and visitors attended the festival, and learnt about the threats facing these 5 species, as well as what they can do to ensure a safer future for them. To bring the installation to life, volunteer guides from The Little Arts Academy were on hand to share about the species and their own experience contributing to the art installation.
Visitors also created their own animal figurines using recycled materials at the on-site art workshops, to add on to the installation. Click here for event highlights.
