Aquatic animals' natural prowess to headline River Safari's new animal presentation

15 MAY 2018

Join our Eco-Rangers at River Safari’s new animal presentation—Once Upon A River—as they take guests on an imaginative journey through riverine habitats to experience the natural behaviours of various aquatic species in the wild.

Get busy this school holidays with plenty of interactive opportunities with aquatic animals at River Safari with a new animal presentation and behind-the-scenes tours.

Witness the sleek moves of the captivating capybaras—the largest rodents in the world—on land and water, and be awed by the elasticity of the great white pelican’s throat pouch as they tuck into their favourite food, fish. Be wowed as a brahminy kite demonstrates its flight agility and swoops down to snatch its prey from the surface of the water, and allow our precocious asian small-clawed otters to win your heart as they motivate you to conservation action.

Get privileged behind-the-scenes access with River Safari’s new tours too! Get up close and personal with our gentle giants—the manatees—in the Manatee Mania tour, feed them their favourite vegetables, participate in their target training and see if you can spot River Safari’s animal icon, Canola the manatee. Or opt for the Amazing Amazonia tour to feed and learn more about piranhas, electric eels and stingrays, and discard your fears about these often misunderstood unique creatures. Discover little-known facts about our aquatic residents from our guide—all piranhas are omnivorous, and that electric eels are actually not eels, but knifefish!

In celebration of Singapore Zoo’s 45th anniversary, senior citizens can sign up for our Friends of Wildlife membership for just $45 a year and enjoy unlimited visits to our four parks, applicable from 26 May – 27 June 2018. Terms and conditions apply.

Swing by Mama Panda Kitchen and indulge in a sustainable Seafood Boat with Mango Dip, and remember to drop by our gift shop at River Safari to bring home adorable animal merchandise too!

Guests will also have opportunities to engage and interact with other animal stars. Feel the scales of a bearded dragon or a green iguana, meet a python and even get to feed the capybaras after the presentation. Immerse yourself in all things river-related and learn about aquatic animals at River Safari’s new animal presentation and tours this school holidays!
