A wilder way to celebrate Singapore this National Day at the Mandai Wildlife Reserve
Wild Day Out 2026
Wild Day Out returns for its third edition on 8 August, from 10am to 6pm, at Mandai Wildlife West. This year’s theme, “Going Local”, brings KCA’s signature farmers’ market to the wilder side of Singapore, free and open to all visitors. Visitors can browse a curated selection of vendors offering fresh produce from local farms. Beyond the market stalls, join the free educational workshops conducted by KCA, which cover topics ranging from microgreens and edible flowers to discovering how the humble black soldier fly serves as one of nature’s most efficient decomposers. Families can dress up in cultural costumes or get crafting at hands-on activity stations. Keep an eye out for "My Little Chingay Float" Truck rolling through, bringing a slice of Singapore’s multicultural heritage to Mandai Wildlife West. Guests can also refuel at any of Mandai Wildlife West’s nine dining outlets offering local and international flavours.
And this year, there are additional reasons to bring the whole family, paws included, with the new addition of a Dog Playground on the West Lawn. Spanning the size of two basketball courts, the space is kitted out with ramps, steppers, hurdles and tunnels, designed to encourage play, exploration and enrichment for dogs of all sizes. Access to the play area is free for all furry friends and their owners. As the West Lawn is also used for other events, the playground will be temporarily unavailable during those periods. Celebrate Singapore's Wildest Stars
This August, get to know the 11 Stars of Mandai – animal icons born and raised at the Mandai Wildlife Reserve. Keeper talks and "Born-in-SG" storytelling sessions across the five wildlife parks bring their personalities to life, and guests can collect limited-edition fans and stickers as keepsakes. For more information on the Stars of Mandai, visit www.mandai.com/starsofmandai.
Among the 11 stars are:
● Ah Meng, a Sumatran orangutan at Singapore Zoo and granddaughter of the original Ah Meng who was once the park’s tourism ambassador
● Canola, a West Indian manatee hand-raised by aquarists at River Wonders
● Arlo the king penguin at Bird Paradise
● Narnia, a binturong featured in Night Safari’s Creatures of the Night presentation
● Bayu the Malayan tapir at Rainforest Wild Adventure
Beyond the Stars of Mandai, the WILDerful Singaporeans campaign invites guests to celebrate and discover Singapore’s native wildlife through a series of interactive booths across the Mandai Wildlife Reserve. The WILDerful Singaporeans Booth and Trail introduces the wild neighbours sharing our spaces and how to coexist with them. Bulbul & Buddies Discovery Booth at Bird Paradise spotlights Singapore's rich birdlife and how to protect them, while Night Safari’s Pangolin & Pals Discovery Booth uncovers nocturnal residents like the Sunda pangolin and common palm civet. A highlight of the lineup is the Mandai Action for Wildlife Project Showcase, presenting the work of primary and secondary students from the Mandai Action for Wildlife programme – Mandai Wildlife Group’s flagship programme that guides young people through designing real conservation solutions for wildlife issues in Singapore. This August, guests can see the ideas come to life firsthand and lend their support to the next generation of conservationists.
