A decade in the making: The Mandai Wildlife Reserve marks Grand Opening as Singapore's wildlife and nature destination

Built on a precinct that has welcomed Singaporeans for more than five decades, the Mandai Wildlife Reserve today celebrated its grand opening, marked by the completion of Rainforest Wild Adventure East – the final milestone in a 10-year transformation of the 126-hectare site into Singapore’s wildlife and nature destination. The occasion was officiated by Minister for Sustainability and the Environment and Minister-in-charge of Trade Relations, Ms Grace Fu, together with management of Mandai Wildlife Group and its board members, as well as representatives from Temasek Holdings and Singapore Tourism Board. Close to 300 guests from industry and education partners, and students also attended the event.

A Decade in the Making: From Single Park into a Wildlife and Nature Destination

The completion of the Mandai Wildlife Reserve marks the culmination of Mandai Wildlife Group’s efforts to bring wildlife parks, nature-themed attractions and public green spaces together. What began with Jurong Bird Park and Singapore Zoo in the 1970s has grown into a multi-park destination that now welcomes about four and a half million local and international visitors each year.

Mr Bennett Neo, Group Chief Executive Officer of Mandai Wildlife Group, said, “When the early parks first opened in the 1970s, they were founded on the simple idea of helping people connect with wildlife and nature. That remains at the core of what we do today. What has changed is the scale of what we can offer, from visitor experiences to conservation and education programmes. Our campaign, Imagine Wilder, reflects a broader ambition to do more for wildlife, nature and to inspire greater care for the natural world. The completion of the Mandai Wildlife Reserve reflects years of work by many partners, teams and supporters who helped shape this destination into what it is today. We hope locals and international visitors will see it as a place they can continue to return to across generations.”

Rainforest Wild Adventure East Officially Opens with More Experiences to Come

Asia’s first adventure-based wildlife park now spans two zones, allowing visitors to explore the 20 hectares of naturalistic habitats inspired by the rainforests of Asia and Africa within a single visit. Wildlife encounters sit alongside adventure activities, including Adventure+ and Black Adventure, adding a dimension unlike any wildlife park experience. A treetop rope course puts visitors among the forest canopy, with the elusive okapi moving through the undergrowth below, while a primate climb offers a bird's eye view of Diana monkeys.

Rainforest Wild Adventure East also features Mandai Wildlife Centre – the precinct’s third hospital and operated by Mandai Nature, the Group’s conservation arm. The facility is dedicated to the treatment and rehabilitation of rescued native wildlife from across Singapore, including Sunda pangolins, Sunda colugos, pythons, and bats. A viewing gallery is open to visitors, with interpretative panels where guests can read about wildlife care and rehabilitation efforts. Visitors will be able to look into selected rooms for a rare glimpse into the veterinary care of rescued wildlife when it is fully operational in July.

Mandai Wildlife Group also announced Glamping in the Wild as the new overarching identity for its permanent glamping experiences, now comprising two sites. The newly opened Crocodile Lodge within Rainforest Wild Adventure East overlooks the crocodile habitat and features 20 tents, each accommodating up to four guests. Stays include Adventure+ experiences across both East and West zones, meals, and exclusive after-dark programmes such as survival knot-tying and film screenings under the stars. Crocodile Lodge joins Reservoir Retreat (formerly Colugo Camp), giving guests two distinct overnight experiences at the Mandai Wildlife Reserve. Bookings are now available on the website, with stays starting 12 June 2026.

Expanding Community Engagement and Partnerships

Alongside the physical completion of the precinct, Mandai Wildlife Group is strengthening its community ties, reinforcing the destination as much a part of Singaporeans’ lives as it is a draw for international visitors.

Mandai Wildlife Group will extend its partnership with the Families for Life Council through co-created programmes and community events that bring families closer through shared experiences in nature. The Group is also partnering For Real Co., a youth community focused on building meaningful relationships, to connect younger Singaporeans with nature and with each other.

Later this year, the Group will embark on a partnership with the National Youth Council as part of the SG Youth Plan. Mandai will be offering opportunities for young Singaporeans and youth leaders to participate in learning journeys and conservation dialogues - helping to nurture the next generation’s connection with wildlife and conservation to support their aspirations, needs and interests.

A new partnership with Zig by ComfortDelGro will soon introduce a driver ambassador programme, with selected drivers trained and incentivised as guides, offering visitors a knowledgeable and welcoming first impression of Singapore and the Mandai Wildlife Reserve. In addition, all Zig drivers will receive complimentary access to the wildlife parks and nature-themed attractions. Visitors can also look forward to promotional codes for Zig rides to the precinct in the coming months, encouraging more to discover what the precinct has to offer. A forthcoming partnership with the Community Chest will further support outreach efforts for social service agencies (SSA) and beneficiaries.

Launch of Destination Brand Campaign, Imagine Wilder

Now spanning five wildlife parks, two nature-themed attractions and public green spaces, the Mandai Wildlife Reserve offers a breadth of uniquely “wilder” experiences, ranging from up-close wildlife encounters and adventure-led exploration to family play, nature-inspired dining and overnight stays. Mandai Wildlife Group has launched Imagine Wilder, a destination brand campaign inviting visitors to experience the wilder side. At a time when travellers are seeking more meaningful, nature-led experiences, the destination brand campaign encourages both local and international visitors to go beyond the familiar and reimagine how they engage with nature through more immersive encounters across the precinct.

In celebration of the grand opening, local residents can look forward to a limited-time two-attractions visit pass with up to 30 per cent savings. Visitors can pair Singapore Zoo or Rainforest Wild Adventure as the main attraction with a second attraction, choosing River Wonders, Bird Paradise, Exploria or Curiosity Cove. The promotion runs from 1 June to 31 August 2026. Local residents will enjoy preferential admission rates and exclusive benefits, including complimentary entry during their birthday month and discounts at retail and F&B outlets. Concession pricing for seniors and youths remains available, while SSA members continue to enjoy complimentary year-round entry. To make it easier for residents to plan their visit, Mandai Wildlife Group will be making local resident pricing more visible on its website.
