In tropical forests, different bird species exist in different layers. At Nyungwe Forest Heart Of Africa, suspension bridges criss-cross at varying heights, facilitating encounters with ground birds such as guineafowls and cranes and offering mid-canopy vistas of insects and fruit eaters. The forest experience culminates at the observation tower for an all-encompassing bird’s eye view.
Nyungwe Forest Heart Of Africa is the largest of the eight aviaries in Bird Paradise. It is also the most forested, thanks to concerted efforts to preserve over 150 mature trees which were on the site before the construction.
Look out for the biggest tree - a weeping fig - in Mandai Wildlife West, and the critically endangered tree Marsh Ubah which is known to exist only in the forested areas of Mandai and Yio Chu Kang.
