Think cold ice and wind in the Antarctica. Then imagine waves gently lapping on an African coastline. Penguins are not only found in cold places, they have also made their homes on hot terrain. To find out more, march on down to Penguin Coast!

What makes it unique
Keeping cool
The 1,630 m2 indoor exhibit features the king penguin, Humboldt, and rockhopper species. Temperatures are kept at 10 - 15ºC and a special lighting system recreating the four seasons helps our penguins maintain their bio-rhythm.
Outdoor fun
Over at the outdoor exhibit, a commotion ensues whenever a butterfly or dragonfly flits in. At the sight of one, the entire colony of African penguins gives chase, tumbling into the water in their excitement!
In their calmer moments, breeding pairs are seen guarding their nests at the air-conditioned den. See if you can glimpse a fluffy chick or two.
Our penguins are trained to head back to their den before the park closes. Stay on to view our evening penguin ‘parade’.
