Drink Coffee and Do Good with Mandai Park Holdings

21 JUL 2017
Singapore, 21 July 2017 - Coffee-lovers are set to enjoy a cup of wildlife-friendly coffee at this year’s Singapore Coffee Festival (SCF) with Mandai Park Holdings (MPH). MPH is debuting Owa Coffee, coffee grown in a wildlife-friendly manner in Java, Indonesia - the result of a Coffee and Primate Conservation project.
Since 2012, MPH through its subsidiary, Wildlife Reserves Singapore (WRS) has supported the project which works with coffee farmers in the village of Sokokembang, Java to encourage the practice of growing coffee under the natural shade of trees. This practice goes a long way in forest conservation and preserves the natural habitat of the endangered silvery gibbons that call the Javan rainforest home.  The gibbons are known as Owa by the locals, for its call in the wild – “uwa uwa”.

At the event, festival-goers can look forward to complimentary tastings of Owa Coffee and learning more about regional conservation efforts captured in the book, “Wild We Can”.  Sip coffee and do your part for conservation, as proceeds from the sale of Owa Coffee beans, “Wild We Can”, and a specially designed coffee mug by social enterprise The Animal Project, will go towards regional wildlife conservation projects.

MPH will also be participating in two panel discussions on “Coffee and Conservation” and “Coffee with a Conscience”, to speak about wildlife-friendly coffee.

Come savour wildlife-friendly Owa Coffee, and do your part for wildlife conservation!
