The Singapore Alliance for Sustainable Palm Oil (SASPO) is an industry-led association of like-minded organisations involved in the usage, trade and production of palm oil within the region. A founding member of SASPO, Wildlife Reserves Singapore (WRS) hosted the Sustainable Palm Oil Leaders’ Summit on 29 November 2016 at Singapore Zoo. The event was jointly organised by members of the Alliance.

This event marked the initiation of SASPO’s activities since its launch on 27 June 2016. The event’s objectives were firstly, to inspire companies to join the Alliance by demonstrating the achievements of its members; and secondly, facilitate dialogue and networking opportunities between various players in the palm oil industry.

The outcome

The summit was attended by over 100 participants from 40 organisations and endorsed by the Ministry of Environment and Water Resources. The Alliance called for all Singapore-based companies that participated in the summit to join the Alliance and contribute towards making sustainable palm oil the norm in the region.
